NOTICE TO LANDOWNERS IN THE TOWN OF MINONG

The Town of Minong has a Nuisance Ordinance with the purpose of protecting the public health and environment for the landowners. We have gotten many complaints and have been asked many times what is the town doing about excess vehicles, appliances, and misc debris on properties within the town. No board likes to get involved in residents· personal property but it has become an issue that can no longer be ignored. The Ordinance reads that ·allowing an accumulation of debris, unused appliances, or more than two (2) unlicensed abandoned vehicles, can be declared a public nuisance affecting health.· Junk dealers are paying for scrap metal and now is the time to get rid of as many of these excess vehicles, etc. as possible. This notice is a start, but after 30 days, if some of the excessive accumulations are not removed, the town will be sending out individual letters requesting cleanup. If that still does not solve the issue, the town will need to proceed with the enforcement and abatement process described in the Ordinance. Please help with this effort to clean up our town. Thank You.

                                                      DOG OWNERS

THIS IS TO REMIND ALL DOG OWNERS THAT YOUR DOGS NEED TO BE LICENSED.  LICENSES ARE GOOD FROM JAN 1ST TO DEC 31ST AND NEED TO BE PURCHASED EACH YEAR.  SPAYED OR NEUTERED DOG LICENSES ARE NOW $6.00 FOR THE LICENSE + A $5.00 LATE CHARGE.  INTACT DOGS ARE $1100 + THE $5.00 LATE CHARGE.  NO DOG LICENSE CAN BE ISSUED WITHOUT AN UP TO DATE RABIES CERTIFICATE.

THE TOWN’S LIST OF DELIQUENT DOGS WILL BE TURNED OVER TO WASHBURN COUNTY BY APRIL 15TH OF EVERY YEAR.  THIS IS THE LAW.  IF YOU HAVE NOT LICENSED YOUR DOG YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO DO SO, AND A $100.00 FINE CAN BE ASSESSED BY THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY PER DOG AFTER THE AUGUST 1ST DEADLINE.

THE PURPOSE OF A LICENSE IS TO INSURE THAT ALL DOGS IN WASHBURN COUNTY HAVE THEIR RABIES SHOTS AND THAT THE DOG CAN BE IDENTIFIED AND RETURNED TO IT’S OWNER IF FOUND.  THEREFORE, THE LICENSE SHOULD BE ATTACHED TO THE DOG.

FINALLY, THE TOWN’S NUISANCE ORDINANCE REQUIRES THAT ALL DOGS MUST BE PROPERLY MAINTAINED, AND AN OWNER OF A DOG MUST KEEP THEIR PET FROM BECOMING A PUBLIC NUISANCE:  (excessive, continuous, or untimely barking; running unleashed or unrestrained off the owner’s property; molesting passersby, chasing vehicles, habitually attacking other domestic animals, and trespassing on others private property; will be considered a public nuisance, and could be picked up.)
